Specific Tumor Applications - Other Malignancies

The literature is quite favorable in gastric cancer and a variety of other tumors. PET is less useful in the typical prostate cancer patient and in patients with most neuroendocrine tumors (where Octreotide scanning is usually more useful). In patients presenting with metastatic disease of unknown primary, PET has the highest yield of any single imaging study with a primary detection rate of perhaps 40%.
