Biomedical Research Foundation Performs 10,000th PET scan.
The Biomedical Research Foundation scanned its 10,000th patient in October of 2004. Only a handful of PET Imaging organizations in the world have performed as many clinical PET procedures as this.
By virtue of interpreting the vast majority of these scans, the Biomed’s Medical Director, David Lilien, MD, is among the single most experienced PET specialists in the world.
By the end of 2005, it is anticipated that over 13,000 patients will have been scanned (since inception) at one of the Biomed’s three PET imaging centers in Shreveport.
The Biomedical Research Foundation is one of leading providers of clinical PET services in Louisiana. It is anticipated that they will provide over $3 million in indigent care during the 2005 calendar year. The Foundation is also leading the charge with the most progressive PET research program in the region, primarily in cooperation with researchers from LSUHSC – Shreveport.
